ARTICLE I: CLUB AMITY BASIC OVERVIEW
Welcome to Club Amity Homeschool Co-op.
Section 1: Location and Time
We meet weekly on Tuesdays from September through April. A schedule for breaks is provided at the start of each year. We meet at the Mountain Road Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 796 S Mountain Rd, Fruit Heights, UT, unless noted otherwise. The showcases and some parties will be held at a nearby church and the address is given to Club Members as needed.
Section 2: Membership Appointment
Members of Club Amity are accepted based on the following needs and in the following order:
- Needs for classes and age groups.
- Teacher needs are assessed. When there is a mother with a special skill that would benefit club Amity, that family may be given priority.
Families are added in the order in which they sign up on the waitlist after the above mentioned priorities are assessed. However, families who have children in ages of classes that are full may have to remain on the waitlist until there is an opening.
The President will oversee the recruitment and admissions process. The president will propose each family to the Executive Team for a formal majority vote of acceptance. The family will then be notified of their acceptance or waitlist position.
Upon acceptance of membership, the new member will go through the formal registration process.
Section 3: Enrollment and Fees
At the beginning of each school year, registration fees and forms must be completed and submitted to the treasurer. Fees are non-refundable.
Additional donations may be requested in the form of supplies such as paper, glue, etc. during the school year.
Parents are asked, when possible, to share equipment (soccer balls, scissors, etc.) and resources they may have on hand if the need arises.
Fees will be evaluated each year and may be reduced or raised based on needs and a majority vote from the Executive Team. Club Amity strives to be fiscally responsible and keep fees as low as possible while providing quality classroom experiences and learning and covering expenses such as insurance and building rentals.
Section 4: Communications
Information regarding Club Amity is primarily shared through the app, Band. Club Members are asked to check Band Notices weekly.
Communication may also happen through phone calls, texts, and emails as needed. Please stay current and up to date on the information that is shared and communicate your needs with the president and/or group.
Section 5: Set-up and Involvement
Club Amity starts each day with Club Games from 9:00 am – 9:25 am, providing a soft start for Club Moms. Then classes begin. These classes are prepared and taught by parents.
Other parent responsibilities include helping in classes, planning and preparing events/showcases, subbing when needed, & cleaning of the building as required.
Children may be given class options depending on class sizes and availability. Not all Club Kids will get their first choice of classes.
Parents are expected to stay the entire time and participate.
ARTICLE II: GENERAL CLASS POLICY
Section 1: Guidelines
A variety of classes are encouraged at Club Amity. All classes should include group work and subjects may include, but are not limited to, the arts, music, science, language arts, business, finance, entrepreneurship, computer science, and speech and debate.
The classes are developed, organized, taught, and administered by a Club Parents.
The Club Parent will submit their written curriculum through a provided form which will be approved by the Executive Team. However, Teachers are considered independent and voluntary directors of their own curriculum or class(es).
As a standard, two adults per age group will be assigned to each class. One is assigned to teach, the second is assigned to help.
The Helper in any class provides classroom control support and is ready to step in to help as the teacher requests. The Helper is also the first person asked to sub in the event the teacher needs one.
Section 2: Philosophy
Club Amity facilitates and provides classes across the age spectrum for homeschool families. It provides facilities, scheduling, assistance, support, and coordination for the benefit of both teachers and students.
Parents have the responsibility to monitor, but do not have the privilege to dictate class content. Communication with each child’s teacher is encouraged if there is a problem.
All classes must include some kind of partner or group work so Club Kids can interact each time the class is taught.
The Executive Team reserves the right to discontinue a class at any time.
Section 3: Rights and Duties of Teachers
In order for a class to be accepted and taught in Club Amity, it must meet the needs of current students and members, and be approved by the executive committee with a curriculum outline.
A teacher is encouraged to maintain communication with each student’s parents and must allow an open-door policy for parents wanting to view class content.
All decisions regarding class administrative matters (i.e. class material, teaching methods, class size, rules, assignments, fees, student eligibility, acceptance or expulsion or other approaches) within the class are made by the teacher, but must adhere to Club Amity guidelines.
Teachers may utilize the assistance of the Class Committee in both the development and mentoring of their classes.
Teachers are not employed nor controlled by Club Amity. All Teachers & Parents must submit a background check.
Teachers are expected to keep their phones and other distracting devices out of sight during class time unless they are using them for classroom learning/activities. Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances and per Executive Team approval.
Section 4: Rights and Duties of Helpers
As a Helper, you aide the teacher. Your main responsibility is to actively help create an environment in which the teacher can effectively teach. This includes but is not limited to:
- Helping with set-up and cleanup of the class as needed.
- Helping students come in quietly and sit down.
- Passing out supplies and worksheets.
- Staying for the duration of the class.
- Assisting students in getting what they need.
- Directing students to find or clean up supplies and materials, etc.
- Noting individuals or combinations of students that are being disruptive and gently and discreetly correcting their behavior.
- Taking unruly students who have not responded to gentle encouragement to their parents for correction.
- Being aware of the upcoming lessons ahead of class and being prepared to teach in case the teacher is unexpectedly absent.
- Escort younger children to their next class.
Classroom helpers are expected to keep their phones and other distracting devices out of sight during class time unless they are being used for classroom learning/activities. Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances and per Executive Team approval.
All Helpers of Club Amity are expected to help in subbing roles so that classes may continue regardless of illness, travel, or other interferences to teacher schedules. Helpers must be willing and agree to help substitute when called upon to do so.
If a teacher or helper is going to miss more than two classes per six-week period, they should contact the class committee so that they can be aware of the issue and make sure one substitute isn’t being asked to substitute more often than is required.
ARTICLE III: CLUB AMITY REGULAR DAY SCHEDULE

Students can pick classes before the year begins. They might not get their first choice. Once classes are set, students may not change classes.
Section 3: Teen Leadership Program

Teachers are responsible for the write up of the class and arranging any special needs for the class.
Section 7: Student Class Selection
Club Kids will be able to choose their classes of interest within their child’s age group so long as options are available, and classes do not exceed the cap for that age group.
Should a class wait list have 6 or more students, Club Amity will do all that is possible to form a second class.
Families will do their best to have a good attitude about all classes, whether they were their first choice or not.
ARTICLE IV: PARTIES/COMMITTEES
Section 1: Parties and Committees
Each year, we hold formal Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day parties along with other informal celebrations. These celebrations are held during Club Amity time on Tuesdays from 9 – noon, but the start and end time may differ. For example, a party might be held from 10-Noon instead. All parents will be expected to participate and to help with Club Amity parties/events. A sign up or random selection for committee assignments will occur. Committees for Parties/Events are overseen by the general Executive Team. Donations will be requested for parties either monetarily or in the form of supplies and food.
ARTICLE V: STUDENT SAFETY & DISCIPLINE POLICIES
The goal at Club Amity is to have every Club Kid happily and fully participating in their class. However, we understand that there are reasons kids might not participate in class and if a child’s behavior becomes disruptive or creates a classroom environment where it is challenging for other Club Kids to fully participate, we need to take action.
Should the parent disregard this policy or fail to implement a plan of action for a child having behavior issues, they may be subject to corrective procedures by the President (as listed below). If a child continues to be problematic despite parental interventions, the executive board will do all they can to resolve the problem but reserves the right to dismiss a child from the co-op as the final step. This may be done through the following procedure:
Section 1: Student Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures
It is the responsibility of the parent to make sure their students understand the rules that are in place. Please review the Student Code of Conduct with your child. If students do not comply with the Student Code of Conduct, disciplinary actions may need to be instituted.
Expectations for all children:
- Respect individuals in authority at all times. This includes but is not limited to, teachers, teacher’s aides, and Executive Team members.
- Respect fellow students. Children must respect one another’s personal space. There will also be no gossiping, yelling, or teasing one another, even in fun. They will speak to and about everyone in a kind, encouraging, and respectful manner.
- Respect buildings, parks, and properties at all times. If a student purposely damages property, their parents may be financially responsible for the damage and more serious disciplinary actions may be taken.
Students are expected to participate in class projects and work. If a child refuses to complete assigned work or projects, the parent will be asked to intervene. If the child’s lack of participation interferes with the classroom objectives, disrupts the work of others, or if the child is taking a place from another child who would like to be in the class, that child may be asked to change classes or stay with their parent during that time.
Discipline for the above infractions will be handled as follows:
- First Warning: Student will be encouraged to have better behavior and reminded of the expectations.
- Second Warning: Continued inappropriate behavior will result in the removal of the student from the class for the remainder of the class. The student will be delivered to the parent for further discipline. The parent will be expected to help the child with behavior.
- Third Warning: Dismissal from Club Amity.
The following behavior will not be tolerated in any way and will result in immediate dismissal for the day:
- Any abusive or foul language.
- Threats and/or intimidation toward teachers, parents, facility staff, or fellow students.
- Willful physical harm to any person or property.
- Theft.
Depending on the seriousness of the offense, the student may be dismissed from Club Amity and may face charges with appropriate civil authorities.
Because we desire to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students and their parents, we have a zero tolerance for the possession of weapons, firearms, alcohol, or any controlled substance. The student or parent will be dismissed from the program immediately and charges will be filed with the appropriate civil authorities.
Section 2: Confidentiality
Every individual has the right to complete confidentiality. We require that no grievance be handled in front of students if possible. We also require that everyone involved keep the matter confidential. There should not be outside involvement without the knowledge of all parties involved. This includes talking to other parents/teachers. If this happens, it is grounds for corrective procedures.
Section 3: Grievance Procedures
For effective problem solving, it is necessary to seek help from the proper people. Should anyone experience disagreement within the co-op, they must adhere to the following steps for resolving the conflict. During this process it is necessary that complete confidentiality be upheld. Refusal to adhere to this policy may result in dismissal from the co-op.
First Step: Discuss the problem with the person with whom you have a disagreement privately.
Second Step: Parties involved need to meet with the President for help resolving the conflict. This should also be done if either party is emotional over the issue.
Third Step: If the issue still cannot be resolved, the President will choose 2 (from executive board if available/possible) impartial individuals to help determine how to handle the situation. All parties involved will keep the matter confidential.
Section 4: Additional Code of Conduct regarding mature subjects and phones:
Adhere to all student code of conduct and disciplinary procedures as listed above.
Explicitly sexual conversations (conversations about the act of sex) are not allowed either during or outside of Club Amity, including phone conversations or any form of “sexting.”
Conversations of a sexual nature including mentioning of private body parts, sexual innuendo, or sexual aggression are not allowed at Club Amity, even when done so in a joking manner.
Cell phone usage in class is limited to teacher approval and should be reserved for emergency use only. Cell phones are expected to be silenced and out of sight during class time.
Any type of language that forces any ideology, belief, world-view, religious, or social expectations onto a peer is not allowed. Students are welcome to have conversations and express their own viewpoints in a productive and respectful way. Any act to bully, intimidate, or force another student to think, feel, or act in accordance with another student viewpoint is not allowed and could result in dismissal.
Any distribution of pornographic materials (including videos, images, or written content) either during or outside of Club Amity is strictly prohibited.
Any failure to adhere to the Above Code of Conduct will result in a written warning from the Executive Team. Club Amity takes these issues very seriously and if deemed necessary further disciplinary action up to formal dismissal may be given per Executive Team’s discretion. A student who is a witness to any infractions of the code of conduct should speak to their parent, teacher/helper, or an Executive Team member.
Section 5: Serious Offenses (minimum/baseline consequences):
Physical Aggression:
- Mild: Sent to mom for the rest of class to calm down.
- Moderate: Sent to mom for the rest of the day to calm down.
- Severe:
o 1st offense: One week suspension
o 2nd offense: One month suspension.
o 3rd offense: Dismissal from Club Amity.
Sexual Aggression (More severity for older to younger.)
- Mild (non-sexual parts of the body, but unwelcome or creepy touch): Problem will be discussed with the child. If repeated, the child’s mom will stay with the child for a specified period of time.
- Moderate (Buttocks):
o 1st offense: Sent to mom for the rest of the day and educated about the offensive behavior before being allowed back to class. The child needs to give an apology to the offended child with an adult and admin witness.
o 2nd offense: Out of Club Amity.
- Severe (Genital touch or exposure):
o 1st offense: If there’s doubt, one month suspension and one month of mom staying in class with the child.
o 2nd offense: Dismissal from Club Amity.
Destroying Property
- Assessed by Executive Team
- Protocol if you witness a serious offense: Take the offending child to their mother or President right away. Tell the mother of the offending child about the behavior in front of the child. Take the mother of the victim to their child after explaining what happened. Replace the mother of the offended kid with another adult as needed. Tell the President. If she is unavailable, tell another member of the executive committee. Don’t tell the other parents; it’s not their business yet. President will go through to verify all steps have happened. Decision on Behavior (to occur prior to the next Club Amity day) President will talk to both sets of parents about what happened and hear what the child shares about the incident. A decision will be made between the President and at least 2 other executive members. In case the President’s family is involved, it goes to the other executive members and a Teacher Coordinator.
